Job Title: Power Converter Embedded Real Time Controls and CAN diagnostics Software Engineer

Job Description

Position Summary:

Develops real-time control hardware and software for three phase, high power converters for hybrid vehicles and wind energy. Responsible for requirements analysis, specification, design, coding, debugging, validation testing and documentation. Candidates must have an emphasis in analog power electronics design.

The candidate will be expected to contribute in the design and development of high and low voltage power supply designs ranging from 100W to 1120kW and will be expected to have a broader background and experience in power converter design, low noise circuit design, filtering, interface standards, and EMI/EMC reduction techniques. Knowledge of SPICE, MATLAB, MATHCAD modeling, FPGA and be skilled in lab testing
and design debugging.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops detailed firmware/software requirements and specifications based on product specification and control system requirements and algorithms determined by power electronics engineers.
  • Designs and writes software/firmware for embedded DSPs or microprocessors/micro- controllers to implement specified functionality using C or Simulink target code generation.
  • Writes software test plans and conducts design validation tests. Debugs software based on test results and issues identified by other testers.
  • Prepares, and supervises preparation of, technical documents and diagrams required by the Company?s Product Creation and Support process and software development standards.
  • Follows established development guidelines and standards and makes recommendations for improvements.

Requirements:

  • MS, Electrical Engineering and 3+ years experience developing real-time embedded software.
  • Experience with real-time control systems, particularly induction and PM controls, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing embedded software using structured software design techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with C and assembly programming
  • Demonstrated experience with testing and debugging embedded real-time software using in-circuit emulators and other specialized test and debug tools including CAN.
  • Programming experience with floating point TI DSPs is an asset.
  • Experience in development of program plans and estimates
  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires working knowledge of computers with Windows applications
